The Way of Grace's Spring 2010 Picnic: On Wednesday, May 26th, we went outside to play. First Pastor Martha and Jesse prepared by starting a fire in the fire-ring and made sticks for roasting hotdogs. The kids had a great time on the newly built playground. We blessed the playground during grace before the meal. A special cake was made for Jesse, a foreign exchange student from New Zealand staying at Pastor Martha's house, in honor of his placing 2nd in discus and 7th in shot put in the Nebraska State Track Meet. Ron manned the grill. While people sat on the patio to talk and catch up on the week, Pastor Martha and Dee were busy helping the younger members of Way of Grace with a hotdog roast. Everyone brought a side dish or dessert to share and we did what we do best--eat and laugh around a table every Wednesday night in fellowship (something we have been doing now for over two years). Jesse cut the cake for desert. After the cake, Jesse and his guests went outside and enjoyed smores. Good fellowship was had by all. To see pictures of the picnic, click here.
The Way of Grace's Playground Building Party: This Spring, a bunch of Way of Grace members worked on putting up a playground behind the church for the young children of Way of Grace. The playground was constructed in pieces on Pastor Martha's driveway and then transported down to the playground area and finished off there. You will note a picture of Dave with his cell phone to call Pastor Martha to come down and supervise the construction when the men got stuck. Obviously, we needed someone smarter than us to get out the directions and box with a picture on it to get things set right. We had a great deal of fun and fellowship in building the playground. Of course the payoff was to see the kids actually enjoy it and I added a few pictures of that as well. To see pictures of the construction project, click here.
The Way of Grace's Spring 2009 Picnic: On Wednesday, May 20th, we went outside to play and grill hamburgers and hotdogs in appreciation of Spring. Everyone brought a side dish or dessert to share and lots of laughs and good fellowship was had by all. To see pictures of the picnic, click here, here, and here.
Shannon & Shawn's Pound Shower: On Sunday, April 26th, the Way of Grace was honored to throw newlyweds Shawn and Shannon Suhr a "pound Shower," giving them gifts that were approximately one pound in size. The last gift was a special quilt made by the members of Way of Grace. With every square that was tied, each member of Way of Grace blessed Shawn and Shannon's marriage with a special prayer. Five Way of Grace member went to Stromsburg on Thursday March 5th for an organizational meeting of A Place at the Table ("APATT") with the Swede Haven Apartments' residents to discuss placing a community garden on the grounds. The idea was enthusiastically received and the residents were given an opportunity to assist in the planning of the garden. Afterwards, we met with Jason and Kellie Rosenkranz of APATT to brainstorm the menu for the next meal at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach on St. Patrick's Day. The menu will be distinctively Irish and should be a real treat to the patrons. For Photos of the meeting, click here.
Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach has become a monthly ministry of The Way of Grace Fellowship. Working in conjunction with A Place at the Table ("APATT") out of Stromsburg, NE, we help prepare, provide and serve between 130-160 meals to the poor and working poor in Lincoln, Nebraska. To see some of The Way of Grace members and our friends from APATT engaging in this rewarding ministry in November, click here.
